Comprehensive Maintenance Restores Auxiliary Dewatering Pump No. (2) at the Euphrates Dam to Operational Service
The technical teams at the Mechanical Department of the Euphrates Dam have completed comprehensive maintenance works on Auxiliary Dewatering Pump No. (2) at Intake No. (2), following its complete dismantling and repair, and successfully returning it to operational service.
The pump is one of the key pieces of equipment installed since the dam began operating. It is responsible for pumping water leaking from the generating units through the inclined tunnel into the river channel, in addition to supporting the main pumps during dewatering operations.
The maintenance operation was carried out after many years of continuous operation without the pump undergoing major maintenance. The technical team dismantled all of its components and replaced the damaged parts, relying on the local market to source replacement parts. This contributed to restoring the pump to full operational efficiency and ensuring its continued operation within the dam’s overall system.
