Gas Production and Early Processing Unit at Al-Tabiyah Field in Deir ez-Zor Resumes Operations Following Rehabilitation
The Syrian Petroleum Company announced the resumption of operations at a gas production and early processing unit at the Al-Tabiyah “Conoco” Field in Deir ez-Zor, following the completion of rehabilitation works carried out by the company’s technical teams in cooperation with local companies. The operation was launched by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Yousef Qablawi.
The rehabilitation works included restarting the gas production and processing facility using equipment previously operated at the Al-Tabiyah plant. This enables the separation of water and condensates and the dehydration of gas, making it ready for transportation to the central region facilities in Homs for further processing.
The gas transmission pipeline extending from the Al-Tabiyah plant toward Palmyra was also rehabilitated. The missing section, approximately 5 kilometers long and 18 inches in diameter, was completed, in addition to repairing the sectional valves. The pipeline is now ready to transport gas in accordance with operational requirements.
The rehabilitation works relied on the company’s available facilities, assets, and technical capabilities, alongside the support of local companies. This reflects the ability of national technical teams to repurpose damaged infrastructure and restore it to service.
The unit is scheduled to begin production from two of the five wells, pending the completion of repair works on the remaining wells. Once the rehabilitation is fully completed, the field is expected to supply the gas network with between 1 million and 1.5 million cubic meters of gas per day.
The operation of this unit represents a first step toward restoring the region’s gas fields to service following a prolonged shutdown. Meanwhile, the company is working to complete the rehabilitation of an integrated production system during the coming phase.

This achievement represents an important step in strengthening the state’s ability to restore vital infrastructure, reinforcing its role in managing the energy sector, and supporting the stability of the gas system in a manner that serves national recovery and production plans.
