New Operational Equipment Bolsters Euphrates Dam, Enhancing Technical Readiness and Facility Continuity
The General Establishment for the Euphrates Dam received a joint team from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). During the visit, 13 pumps of various sizes—complete with electrical control panels, connecting pipes, and electrical cables—were handed over to support the dam's technical and operational requirements.
The team was welcomed by the Establishment’s Director General, Engineer Haitham Bakour, alongside engineering and technical staff. Discussions highlighted the importance of the supplied equipment and its role in supporting technical operations and enhancing the facility's operational readiness.
The team conducted an inspection tour of the dam’s facilities, reviewing the technical status of the site and existing challenges, as well as the efforts made by national staff to ensure operational continuity and improve readiness levels. Both sides discussed future cooperation opportunities and ways to provide further support for priority projects, aiming to boost the technical and operational readiness of the Euphrates dams and enhance the reliability and sustainability of these vital facilities.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes the importance of continued cooperation between international organizations, supporting entities, and national institutions in the water and energy sectors. Such collaboration ensures that technical needs are met and rehabilitation and maintenance efforts are strengthened, ultimately enhancing dam readiness, operational efficiency, and the sustainability of their vital role within the water and energy resource system.
