Energy Minister Eng. Mohammed Al-Bashir held a meeting today with the Italian Ambassador to Syria, Mr. Stefano Ravagnan, and the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires in Syria, Ms. Hilda Haraldstad. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and relations among the three countries in the field of energy.
Following the meeting, a technical agreement was signed to rehabilitate the Deir Ali Power Plant. The project is funded by the governments of Italy and Norway and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It includes urgent maintenance works, the provision of essential spare parts, and technical training programs, contributing to improving electricity supply reliability and restoring part of the plant’s generation capacity.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, Eng. Omar Shaqrouq, and the Director General of the Public Establishment for Electricity Generation, Eng. Mohammed Fadila.
