Coordination Meeting Between the General Authority for Water Resources and ACSAD to Launch a Scientific Study on the Al-Lajah Plateau
The General Authority for Water Resources held a coordination meeting with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) to discuss launching a scientific study on the Al-Lajah Plateau. The meeting was attended by the Authority’s Director General, Eng. Ahmed Al-Kawan; Technical Deputy, Eng. Basil Kamal Al-Din; and Director of Integrated Water Resources Management, Eng. Abdullah Al-Qate'; alongside ACSAD’s Director of Water Resources, Dr. Ihab Janad, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting addressed the initial steps for launching the study, which aims to assess the water situation across the Al-Lajah Plateau—spanning the governorates of Rural Damascus, Daraa, and As-Suwayda—and to identify the area's potential and its role in supporting integrated water resources planning and management in the region.
The study focuses on exploring ways to meet the water needs of the beneficiary areas, particularly regarding drinking water, thereby contributing to a comprehensive scientific vision for utilizing available resources and enhancing their sustainability.
This collaboration between the Authority and ACSAD falls within the framework of supporting specialized studies and developing water planning foundations, aiming to optimize resource use and bolster water security in the beneficiary areas.
