The Ministry of Energy announced a series of achievements during the current week, covering projects in the fields of water, electricity, oil and gas, and renewable energy, in addition to humanitarian initiatives and international participation.
Water
Rehabilitation of a well in Al-Hamra town in the eastern countryside of Hama after 12 years of suspension, contributing to securing drinking water for more than 3,000 citizens.
Operation of new wells in the Yabous and Wadi Marwan areas in the Damascus countryside, as part of a plan to rehabilitate 19 wells and connect them to pumping lines towards the capital.
Completion of repairs to the main pipeline supplying Deir ez-Zor city and restoration of water pumping to residential areas.
Operation of the Al-Babiri Station west of the Euphrates, the largest pumping station in the Middle East with a capacity of 90 m³/second, providing drinking water for 6 million people and supporting industry and energy sectors.
Announcement of the restoration of the management of the Euphrates Dam and the operation of its facilities after regaining control over it.
Renewable Energy
Implementation of a solar energy project in the countryside of Aleppo, supported by UNICEF, to sustainably operate water pumps in Al-Qatari Camp and Al-Nu'man Village, ensuring continuous water supply and reducing the impact of power outages.
International Participation
Syria’s participation in the 5th International Mining Conference in Riyadh, attended by Minister of Energy Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, as part of efforts to revitalize the mineral resources sector and engage with global companies to support the reconstruction phase.
Electricity
Maintenance teams in Latakia and Tartous began repairing damages caused by the weather storm.
Commencement of electricity network maintenance works in Deir Hafer.
Oil and Gas
The Syrian Petroleum Company took over the Al-Rasafa and Al-Safyan fields and returned them to operation.
Technical teams continue evaluating the recovered oil fields in Al-Jazeera region, in preparation for their rehabilitation according to well-developed plans.
Phosphate
Signing two new agreements to enhance phosphate investment and marketing:
The first agreement with Al-Sharqiya Trading and Contracting Company for the investment of one million tons, including exploration, production, and export.
The second agreement with Al-Hassan Holding Company for the sale of one million tons through land transportation and 500,000 tons through maritime transportation, contributing to expanding marketing channels and increasing revenues.
Water Resources
Implementation of extensive maintenance works in Latakia Governorate to enhance structural safety and water drainage efficiency, including the repair of Al-Moheet Bridge, construction of a new drainage channel, and addressing bottlenecks.
Humanitarian Initiatives
The Syrian Petroleum Company launched an initiative to distribute heating materials to camps in northern Syria, valued at one million US dollars, targeting 14,500 families.
Field Visits
Conducting an inspection tour of the Euphrates Dam and its vital facilities to assess technical and operational readiness. The tour was carried out by the two Deputy Ministers of Energy: Eng. Osama Abu Zeid for Water Resources Affairs and Eng. Omar Shorouq for Electricity Affairs
