In response to the continued rise in water inflow via the Euphrates River from the Turkish side, technical teams at the General Establishment for the Euphrates Dam have opened spillway gate No. 6. Consequently, the volume of water being released from the Euphrates dams has reached 1,100 cubic meters per second.
This measure is part of the Establishment’s operational plan to manage high water inflows and release them in a controlled, gradual manner. This approach ensures the maintenance of safe water levels and enhances the operational safety of the Euphrates dams and their associated facilities.
As part of the ongoing gradual management of water inflows, the release rate is scheduled to increase again in one week by 100 cubic meters per second—bringing the total to 1,200 cubic meters per second—subject to hydrological and operational data and the monitoring of inflow and water level trends.
Technical and engineering teams at the Establishment continue to monitor water inflows, reservoir levels, and release rates around the clock. They coordinate with relevant authorities and emergency operations centers in the Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor governorates, taking appropriate measures based on evolving water conditions.
The General Establishment for the Euphrates Dam urges residents living near the Euphrates River to exercise heightened caution and vigilance. Residents are advised to stay away from the river channel and banks and to refrain from swimming in the river, particularly given the gradual increase in released water volumes, the accompanying rise in water levels, and the increased flow velocity, all in the interest of public safety.
